Abstractions along her trajectory became so long and so involved that she had to have the surroundings of silence and space in forest and mountains to hold it straight. Hours of construction would have been shattered by the least distraction. It was thinking at a level where everything shifts and changes, where values and verities were gone and there was nothing but her own spirit to keep her going. Her early failures had released her from a sense of obligation to uphold anything and she was trap-wary of institutional truths. She was looking for lateral ideas, the ones that came from out of the corner of her eyes, from unexpected directions. To all appearances, she had a lack of clarity, lack of direction, lack of being able to make decisions and lack of listening skills. One big economy of lack. She looked for the lateral. She couldn't follow a set procedure to uncover them because it was these methods and procedures that were all screwed up in the first place.
She sat before a window at three in the morning on a snow white knight, with Kant's famous Critique, studying it as a chess player studies the openings of tournament masters, testing the line of development against her own judgment and skill, looking for weak places in that formidable logical fortification of Kant's position. A monad's knowledge of being-in-the-world, implies a pathic apprehension which escapes energetico-spacio-temporal coordinates. Knowledge here is first of all extential transference, non-discursive transitivism. The enunciation of this transference always occurs through the diversion of a narration whose primary function is not to engender a rational explanation but to promote complex refrains, supports of an intensive, memorial persistence and an event centered consistency.
