I, Eye, I was the shadow of the raven slain
By feigned remoteness in the window pane.
I was the smudge of black fluff -- and Eye
Lived on, flew on, in the reflected sky.
Ideas improve. The meaning of words participates in the improvement.
Plagiarism is necessary. Progress implies it. It embraces an author's
phrase, makes use of his expressions, erases a false idea, and replaces it
with the right idea.
Ideology: A term in Marxian philosophy designating the status of cultural phenomena (such as art, philosophy, literature, academic papers) as systems of propaganda supporting a specific socio-economic system and its beneficiaries.
Incorrigibility: An empirical statement has incorrigibility if a person who believed it could not be wrong. An example might be, "I feel like a raven right now" uttered in a case where one does feel this. Whether such statements actually exist is controversial, but empiricism in its classical form (Locke) and modern form (logical positivism) put great stock in them.
Induction: A form of argument in which the "premises" are empirical observations and generalizations are made from these observations. In induction, the conclusion stands in only a probabilistic relation to the observation on which it is based.
